Sea state threshold catastrophe, the Gulf of Mexico defiled, national moment of truth whatever you choose to call it, this is a time when you can smell the heavy salt of fate in the air. It is ancient in our make up to shrug off chaos until we are well over the edge and pummeling to the bottom. Man paints his preconceptions into the essential whole of his canvas of predilection and this clever ethos slavishly enhances his greed and acquisitive desires in the web of the political world. It is a subconscious process whereby he defines what things and souls are going to do for him before he even gets to know what essentially defines them in their own right.*Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Cutting Through Spiritual Materialism, (Shambala Dragon Edition) . He builds into the genetics of the process that which others are going to do for him as paramount and continually minimizes the need to concern himself with the essential needs of the fostering community he is going to thrive in. Meet Mr. Businessman, and yes, he’s in Oil. Boiling, vaporous, disintegrative, blobs of burning oil!

When this whole thing happened, my first instinct was the perfect memory of the smell of the refinery I grew up in, the wind would carry the scent everywhere. I flashed to the Bay of Maracaibo and the sordid hellish constantly burning oil spill I witnessed there. And then that dull pit in the gut where you know instinctually that the media is already lying or doing their “stupid talk” where they purposely skew or salt the facts with paltry analysis and sound-byte “facts”, often huge understatements issued to them by the guilty parties themselves.

The first one I heard was 5, 000 barrels a day. The red light went off right there since I remember reading that this well was a rather prolific producer. Then add to that the margin the oil companies would have routinely understated their production to the government as, and the excess profit they would have made by manipulating the price on the market; these are essential aspects of oil man accounting we pay for every day. It is, of course, characteristically as infantile and unprofessional as oil man engineering, which as we have witnessed in the last three weeks is as witless. When you can see their gross mis-statements from space and logic out the size of the spill for yourself with some basic calm sea assessments and some earth based geometry you know they are lying on a vast scale.**See Google.com/sat: http://www.google.com/crisisresponse/oilspill/

Let’s just consider for a moment some of our own accounting here. There is plenty of blame to go around and if you want to see who is guilty you don’t have to look past the core of our most intellectually dishonest institutions - Congress, you can start with that. Heck lump all the politicians in there, then the Business Community down to the last “drill baby drill” sound byte chirper, and you can toss in the essentially extinct fourth estate that is a holy owned subsidiary of the corporatist plutocrats. And you can throw in our environmental angels of our better nature the EPA and the “revised figures” “science” community of post 911 experts that will rubber stamp your preconceptions of science for a fee and reinterpret any aspect of the Bureau of Standards to their own level of metaphysical presumption....you know the type - they will tell you that jet fuel can melt and even pulverize steel reinforced girders and concrete. Weird, in the science class I went to they never lied to us like that and got away with it, but alas stupid and credulous has an entirely new definition in America in today’s etiology .

So for a moment here, while we confront the wall of their curious indifference to the public good, let’s just look past that and look at a few of the lies that have indeed been confirmed by clownish little nondescripts like you and me my fellow citizen.

Most people don’t have a clue what a barrel of oil is. Let’s start by looking at that, because if you want to know the scale of something you would like to start with some form of measurement. A barrel of Oil is 42 gallons of oil. It is equal to 5,800,000 Btu and it takes 7.333 barrels of oil to make 1 metric ton of oil and this is equivalent to 307.986 gallons of oil. Don’t be confused with the three place decimal you can round it off to 308 gallons.

Now that we know what our base measurements are and how they are relevant to one another lets consider what kind of pollution routinely goes on around the planet to understand what we have been considering both acceptable and routine up to the present, based on what we honestly know about the level of pollution. 6,000,000 metric tons of oil pollute the planet every year from cumulative calculations of routine oil spills and from leaking or pooling waste oil around rigs planet wide. This represents 1,848,000,000 gallons per year (all dumping sources, not just that which ends up in the ocean and we really don’t know what amount gets to the sea) .***EPA-600/2-81-199, Sept 1981 Oil Slick Dispersal Mechanics, Osamor/Ahlert, Dept Chemical and Biochemical Engineering, Rutgers University.

Now BP and it’s bootlicking media buddies reported 5,000 barrels a day leaking, so I instinctually figured they must be understating this to a factor of 10 so as to not cause a furor. Well, within a few days that lie was confirmed by google sat an a few relatively simple calculations. And as they usually do they only succeed in throwing gasoline on the fire of public opinion.
In three weeks 2,100,000 gallons has leaked into the bay each day when we accept 50,000 barrels a day as the level of real leakage and it may be greater than that. ((50,000 barrels X 42 gallons ) = each day load.)
In 23 days since the beginning of the spill that is equivalent to 48,300,000 gallons are currently in the gulf.
If it goes on to 90 days, as predicted, (before capping), we will have defiled the bay with roughly 189,000,000 gallons of crude. That represents 613,665 metric tons of crude that will be all over the place in the gulf. And since BP’s operatives TransOcean has been submitting the mess with a litany of dumb things such as dumping even more toxic dispersants on the oil and burning off distillates they probably haven’t made their own job any easier in reality and this will be monstrous to even attempt to contain or clean up.
That’s equivalent to 37,800 tanker trucks the size you commonly see driving our highways to their way to some gas station to off load.
Using the length of the average semi-truck fuel transporter as 75 feet that’s 2,835,000 total feet divided by 5280 feet or the length of a mile and the size of this spill in 90 days will be equivalent to a line of semi truck fuel transporters 537 miles long.

So much for the scale of things...as they are.

To understand the preparation both the government and the oil industry had gone to in order to prepare for such an even I found the amount of literature and its quality too paltry and bordering on childish in is depth of analysis and level of responsibility.
The base line literature designed to protect us from such events was a single EPA research paper sponsored by a grant project EPA Doc- 600/2-81-199 dated 1981 and titled Oil Slick Dispersal Mechanics.

I cannot see one iota of change in their procedures, directives and presumptions to date other than of course all the schmoozing that has gone on with the pipe and drilling permitting process which is mindlessly cozy with the disaster-makers themselves. From a preventive standpoint the last line of defense from such a disaster was always the bony intrusive clutching fingers of politics, not a safety valve to avert catastrophe at 5000 feet below the ocean floor, not to mention substandard pipe purchased from China that burst under the pressure of both greed and elements improperly assessed and calibrated.

Essentially this study was foolishly documented.

Primarily it was based on some absurd assumptions such as calm seas, observable phenomena only and primarily analyzed from the surface of the sea without further in depth environmental analysis and subsurface studies, etc, etc, etc....
The science stuff is all there - a hodgepodge of obscure statistical analysis, dispersal rates, clever names for aspects of a spill, charts and graphs up the bazoo, but bereft of any real integrity as a comprehensive in depth analysis of probabilities with a high level of predictable lethality.

We certainly would not give a potential terrorist this kind of access and confidence if they intended to play around with such potentially devastating probabilities. We would be applying electrodes to their testicles while they stood on one foot on a block of ice with a hood over their heads! With friends like the oil companies who needs enemies. Isn’t it interesting that out of one eye we would pursue terrorists with the above mentioned typical knee jerk Republican Bush tactics and yet reserve suits and ties and gentle conversation and bottle water, tea and crumpets for our oil drenched counterparts. Softly spoken gentility laced with legal-sleeze and politically acceptable contempt spoken like good little manipulative legislooters. A disgusting dog and pony show of ineffectual Congressmen and Senators; a ridiculous farce fit for a clown.

A clown just like you if you are buying any of other their bull winkle any more!

According to the authors of the study, Chukwuka A. Osamor and Robert C. Ahlert:
“It is impossible to predict accurately the rate of spreading of an oil slick. Spreading rates are site dependent and are influenced by the hydrodynamics of the underlying water and surface air columns.
A few theoretical studies which have improved the knowledge of oil slick transport have been reviewed. More recent experimental investigation have involved actual field studies in which large volumes of oil have been spilled intentionally at sea.” The writer goes on to bemoan the high cost of such studies and proceeds...”Usually, the spreading of oils on water is considered to consist of two independent mechanisms (Hoult, 1972). The first mechanism is the tendency of oil to spread as a gravity wave on calm water,”...at this quiet stage, lacking wind, the main bubble of oil is referred to as a “lens”; “the second mechanism comprises the gross transport of oil masses in the presence of external forces, i.e. the convective forces of winds, currents, tides and waves. The total area covered by an oil spill is a combination of the areas covered by both spreading mechanisms.”

They go on to note that “Evaporation causes volatile components of the oil to be lost to the atmosphere and dissolution causes soluble components to leach into water...the effects of other weathering processes, e.g. microbial degradation, photo-oxidation, etc., may be significant also, depending on the duration of oil exposure.” But the study of course grossly neglected such fine points as what happens to your presumptions of microbial degradation when you have a spill in an area already terminally ill from deadly Hypoxia (i.e. the total lack of oxygen) in dead parts of the ocean like the northern coast of the Gulf Region and a myriad of environmental considerations that were not extant at the time and are hopelessly wanting for critical research as yet unfunded and undone.

How glorious their intellectual dishonesty, how blind their consideration of catastrophic probabilities and how ultimately cavalier their piratical philosophy of greed and disinformation! Both the US Congress/Senate and the Business Community are profoundly at fault here.

All these factors and huge gaps in credible science abound and are not taken into account by people who continue to presume that something of this scale can be effectively cleaned up, as there are other levels of pollution barely taken into account.

Think about this: the use of dispersals to break up the spill at the top of the surface...what exactly was the point of that? If you use oil-man logic it gets rid of what you can see on the surface and sinks the crude to the bottom in calm water. That process is also self-defeating as it makes to oil go clear to the bottom where public opinion might not be able to see it, but trust me - it’s there. And when the hurricanes come and the deeper ocean currents take the oil around the Gulf in the four directions and then out to sea then I wonder what the geniuses will come up with next.

And then the writer of the Rutgers University Study goes on to say, in the one glimmer of revelatory truth in the whole document, that should have begun loud peals of alarm bells all across the land:

“The importance of dealing with oil spills by diversion, containment and collection of floating oil cannot be underemphasized. The methods are not practical in all spill situations,...For Example, there is a “sea-state threshold” beyond which containment and recovery of oil slicks is impossible. Dispersion of oil slicks by chemical treatment may be the only option available to reduce adversed impacts on the environment.”
Of course the study makes no mention or mere consideration of at what point there mere risk of such a possibility becomes unreasonable. Reason need not apply with these folks, all they see is profit.

And then the last glib admission by the writer states: “Furthermore all the mathematical models used in this study and used to assess the size and scope of an oil spill are only relevant in the case of calm seas.” And we all know from what we have seen in the Sea State Catastrophe of the the Gulf of Mexico that presumption only lasted three days until the wind began to blow and it was really out of our hands at that point. The moment we started throwing dispersals on it, it was already too late.

I invite the reader to go to the NCCOS and NOAA websites to examine for him or herself the 5000 km2 region of the dead zone in the gulf documented from space. It already threatens a $2.8 billion fishery in the northern Gulf. That is an area the size of New Jersey which is entirely a dead zone devoid of life giving oxygen. This additional disaster will threaten the economies of 5 states and the environment of the planet for many years to come and it is very probably the very perceptible end of the very life of the ocean if this degrees of mindless load of pollution continues as any kind of acceptable standard into the future.

We are at the crossroads of the Sea-Stage Catastrophe of the Oil Age and whatever future we want to have left. We have to evolve to a new level of intellectual honesty in our consideration of each others real needs and limitations and on how we choose to manage our environment from now on.

This is not just an environmental crisis, it is a full fledged crisis of the nation state and the entire business community going forward. Reasonable honorable people have got to evolve some reasonable control here in America or I doubt the planet will have a prayer and I really hope our Chinese pals are paying real close attention or even give a damn.

Cleaning up our act has to be done or we will never move forward from here. And at the heart of cleaning up the corruption we have to wrest ourselves from the grip of corporate hogs who want to over-run our political system. Our own Supreme Court has seen to that. Congress must reform the laws of the Senate and get rid of the foil of the fowler - the infernal filibuster and it must get beyond the mechanism of campaign contributions from corporations that claim the rights and privileges of individuals and stop cooperating with people who subvert any kind of responsible policy of the commons or for that matter the mere discussion on a national level of its essential nature.

When is enough enough and what about any of this is even reasonable or responsible or honorably scientific? There is nothing redemptive in unretrievable sea-state catastrophes or fascist state politics.

Update: May 18, per numerous new reports there is a plume of under-water oil that is supposed to be 10 miles long, 3 miles wide and 300 feet thick. If you suspect the oil companies of lying to us as to the scale of this leak consider the following:

Let’s use the above statistics as to the size of the underground plume that is said to be the largest. Let us assume rectangularity just for the sake of argument. These dimensions in miles are converted into feet and then multiplied times each other to give us cubic feet: 275,616,000,000. I used the following website address to calculate this spill size: http://www.easycalculation.com/unit-conversion/volume-unit-converter.php
Next convert the cubic feet into US barrels of oil and you get 49,089,306,060 Barrels and you get 1,716,769,330,144 gallons! Significantly more than we have been told about it. If the oil comprises only 50% of this single plume we are still being grossly misinformed as to the real size of this disaster. It would be necessary to perform density tests to verify any of these results and of course it is impossible to accurately use a rectangle under water filled with oil in solution with salt water to estimate size or volume correctly. My figures are not intended to be accurate only to throw doubt on what we have been told. When the truth finally comes out I will wager that it will become known that the rig was leaking for days before it blew.

Update: May 22, per numerous news reports the truth about the scale of this spill is starting to come out. Scientists now say that the daily spill amount is more accurately placed at somewhere between 95,000 and 110,000 barrels a day ( 3,300,000 barrels in 30 days), equivalent to 4,620,000 gallons per day or in 30 days = 138,600,000 gallons total spilled into the Gulf. 450,020 Metric tons in 30 days. That is equivalent to two-thirds of a 90 day load originally estimated at 5,000 barrels a day and revised to 50,000 barrels a day. This is equivalent to a line of fuel transport semi-trucks 355 miles long so far. That is longer than the state of New Mexico is wide by a few miles. These figures are probably still a low estimate. I was heartened to see that the Tibetan Lama was on the Today Show this morning as I had quoted his predecessor Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche in my article. He said that this event is the real mark of the beginning of the 21st Century and spoke of the need for responsibility and positive solutions. To all my brethren: Nemaste!

Update May 23, 2010: I was relieved to see that scientific confirmations have been made of the 100,000 to 110,000 barrel a day load limit. Of course this could be revised even higher after the density of the subsurface oil is known. It is gratifying that my figures have been confirmed and my figures are accurate. And it remains to be seen as to whether they will admit to a leaky well long before it actually blew. The next very big immediate issue is going to be the recognition by the public working on this that they have been sent to do a dangerous job with no safety equipment on the order of gas masks etc. The reason why is simple and has only been accentuated by BP in their efforts to sink the crude to the bottom to get it out of the public view. Crude petroleum is a combination of toxic gases and natural distillates found in the oil that are extracted and used as fuels such as gasoline, kerosene etc. These enhanced and refined products in their natural form of distillation contain many numerous toxic substances.

I will focus on the one that is probably the worst and that is Benzene. It is said to be immiscible in water, i,e, it doesn’t mix and it tends to float as a narrow band of gas clinging to the ocean surface and just above the water. By telling these fishermen to go out and place booms in the water they had to know that these fellows would have to lean over the side of their boats to place booms in the water and they would be breathing tons of the stuff over a period days or weeks at a time. Benezene causes cancer and is known as ID# 1114 in the 2000 Emergency Response Guidebook used by first responders and various aspects other agencies. It says in Guide 130 for spills of raw benzene that the vapors are heavier than air or floats just over the surface of water and in concentrations it evinces a yellowish tinge.

To clean up this type of spill you must use self contained breathing apparatus a plain filter is wholly useless. The risk of explosion is real and the ignition point can simply be a lack of an adequate ground - on water that’s a difficult concern as this stuff can be real fluky if it gets into contained areas . On the ocean much of it will go into the atmosphere but a great deal of it will be added into the ecosystem on shore and in the ocean depths.

People are going to suffer horrendous long term effects from this stuff and anyone who is already pushing the limit with a smoking habit would do well not to expose themselves to this stuff for any amount of time without the proper safety equipment. Also Benzene alone, not to mention a myriad of other distillates in heavy oil, has several other byproducts produced by industry and these involve elements found also in sea water or the oil itself, so many other dangerous gas combinations will be adding to the toxic load of the benzene. The government and BP are going to experience lots of liability here just like what was done to the victimized fire-fighters during 9-11. They are being asked to do a job that may have mortal consequences and not being properly warned or protected. The effects can be delayed and often show by very difficult breathing problems that get much worse over time in the case of a high exposure. Oxygen therapy can be used to treat minor exposure, but long term effects of benzene exposure is not good. Nobody in a refinery lives right in the compound, they live a good distance away because of the long term danger of benzene exposure in particular.http://www.amazon.com/Cutting-Spiritual-Materialism-Shambhala-Editions/dp/0877730504http://www.google.com/crisisresponse/oilspill/http://www.google.com/crisisresponse/oilspill/http://www.easycalculation.com/unit-conversion/volume-unit-converter.phpshapeimage_8_link_0shapeimage_8_link_1shapeimage_8_link_2shapeimage_8_link_3
Sea-State Threshold Catastrophe in the Gulf of Mexico,
The Truth about Deepwater Horizon
Personal Strategies for Restoring Sustainability and Integrity When Confronted with a Bankrupt Failed Two-Party Morass

Well, here we are, one year into the most cleverly contrived political coup d’etas in history with the election of Barack Obama and the democrats. Don’t get me wrong I am one, but soon to be I shall redeclare as “Decline to State” in New Mexico. I was a Green Party member who left that party to become a democrat in the last election, because I feared if I did not register I could not audit my vote even minimally. The voting machines in the State of New Mexico have been proved to be fraudulent and I did not trust either the state officials in charge of elections, nor the original Diebold machines used to tabulate the vote. We all learned how effective those mechanisms were at stealing the vote in 2000 and 2004 to allow for the “election” of a blatant tyrant.

I ran as a Green Party Write-In Candidate from the Green Party in District 2 of New Mexico in 2002 for the US Congress. I did this because I knew the day of 9-11 that no Arab terrorist could have possibly breached the security embedded in the twin tower complex, including building 7. I knew no jet plane or jet fuel could have possibly brought down a structure of such integral engineering. The kinetic energy at the target was infantile compared to the fortress of design and the fuel involved could not have possibly ignited the girders, let alone pulverize them so thoroughly that nothing larger than two-keys of a dial-up phone could survive. Nor could such an impact cause a building to pancake exactly into its footprint without toppling, leaning or causing a partial break-away of the structure at best. It did not take a rocket scientist to see that it was a perfectly engineered planned implosion by skilled demolition experts who knew precisely the exact engineering specifications of the building. I knew I was looking at a classic case of sabotage from within both intuitively and through logic-testing the criteria of what I had observed. It was an inside job, because no-one else had the skill, tools or motive, opportunity or access to pull it off. I knew it the day of 9-11 and I told and associate of mine that fact, it is a matter of record.

Understand, it is not important to my ego to be mentioning this, rather I do so to make sure you understand I did not come on these conclusions through the input of others after the fact. During the Clinton Era I stopped reading most newspapers, because I began to notice how propagandistic they had become. Then came the “shrug”, a despot incarnate, the Republican dictatorial shill we know as George W. Bush. By then I knew clearly what I was up against as a citizen, I had a government that had become patently conspiratorial and seamlessly plutonic. It had morphed into a Bi-Partisan Centrist Monster that had an agenda of its own, quite separate from the democratic civic process we had all presumed represented us. And as the nation recoiled from the devious criminal behavior and the impact of a demolished mainstream economy, it turned back in typical bipolar fashion to the alternative of the democrats in the hopeful visage of Barack Obama. But alas, here we are one year into his administration and what has he done? The first thing he did is cooperate with the opposing party to declare a fiscal emergency and then turned right around and rewarded his contributors and patrons the banksters and crooks in Washington. The next thing he did is staff his government with elitist Clintonities who are the blue dog fowlers of the Democratic Party.

As a Green Party Member, I got tired of watching my party, (at the time), give away elections to either a Democratic Vote or a Republican Vote. Both of these parties had been selling out the American electorate for years. I call it PING PONG POLITICS and it goes nowhere. If you honestly look at how it works, a very narrow set of voters in the middle of this bi-polar madness actually elects the party of “choice”. Both Democrats and Republicans fight over the votes of a few narrow centrists independents that aren't really progressive and aren't conservative either, in fact they can't quite make up their minds what the heck they are. They usually vote out of anger or they are knee-jerk one issue voters who chirp sound-bytes and thinking they are highly informed proceed to upset the apple cart for any real or significant progress on either side. This ugly equation has been disenfranchising Americans for years. Having analyzed this I finally came to the conclusion that short of a real revolution there was no way of solving this unless a Third Party could build significant momentum and overcome this conspiracy by the materialized interests of Wall Street contributors who rule the economy from their centrist position to stymie everyone else.
Both parties are guilty of leading us down this wicked road of iniquity and cheating us out of a truly viable political system. It finally dawned on me this was much like a schizophrenic behaves and it is true bipolar behavior in the clinical sense of the word. How do they pull this off?

Well, for one thing each always suggests doing things that are really largely red herring issues...ie, they set us up to believe, as Reagan did with his classic 12 points, that they are going to push for major reforms that they know will never stand the litmus of the courts in the end. In reality the populist sentiment for change merely gets side-railed and no significant change or reform is accomplished. They love it!

The other thing they were guilty of is that each attacked the Constitution from their preferred advantage at the behest of the most centrist elements within their parties that sought aspects of control that fed their bottomless hunger for power over the rest of us. Consider that the Republicans love to attack our civil liberties granted to us in the Bill of Rights by decimating the 1st, 4th and 5th and 6th Amendments of the Constitution, while the Democrats love to chip away at our 2nd Amendment rights in particular and they are plainly spend-happy when it comes to being responsible fiscally and staying within budget, although in the last administration the Republicans did a great job of pilfering the Treasury for their own reasons. Look at the subject of abortion for instance. The Republicans railed on and on about that for eight straight years, and for years prior, in order to control the so-called “Pro-Life” voters. Did we see any real implementation of this “mandate” they were so proud of? Of course not - it was merely a red-herring issue and they knew it would never get past the Supreme Court testing it would most assuredly come up against in the course of the process. But it served their manipulative purpose perfectly and motivated the one-issue voter to back them with zeal, the same zeal they ironically ascribed to in supporting the criminal prosecution of two illegal wars against a largely contrived “enemy” with a majority of subsequent victims of those wars who were in majority innocent women and children in foreign lands. Such is the true tenor of their “Pro-Life” strategy. Moreover, the same moralistic set of knee -jerk one-issues voters signed up in droves for insolvent zero percent loans and overly inflated home loans that were based entirely on lustful greed and piggery.

So again, here we are. Banksters, criminals and bone-heads get rewarded and we get to watch our entire system collapse to an even lower level of degradation.
Well, the solution cannot be going back to more of the same, so what do we do now? Political reform is the evident answer but how do you implement that when you have do appeal to the wolves to reform the hen house? I submit you don’t. Politics is the art of the possible, but the people themselves do not really understand how to implement reforms. Going back to your fellow partisans is no longer viable, intellectually honest or minimally reasonable. I believe the solution is to form a party that is truly Progressive Socially, accepts that the Bill of Rights is inviolable and insists on fiscal responsibility and on a sovereign currency that reflects a true standard of value and domestic solvency for the middle class American citizen. If you give this some consideration these are really constructive realistic limitations we have to eventually acknowledge. When you embrace your limitations you finally unlock your hidden strengths to overcome adversity. The motto of the Navy Seals is Improvise, Adapt and Overcome. By forming a value-based centrist coalition we acknowledge that we can only work our way out of this by reconstructing the ideology of the Commons in a more realistic fashion. (Although I literally hate centrism, if I am capable of “hating” anything, I know it is a fact of life in American politics. Realize that hatred is just a basement form of love, whereby the “hater” is hopelessly tied to the “hated” in a subjective perverted form of attachment equally powerful as the motive of love.) That way we unite the best elements of both parties and cut out the manipulators in our midst by finding a true common ground under a new party banner. If we keep mindlessly opposing each other within their formula America will be drained of its life blood in short order, but if we unite and combine the best of both mandates to create a Third Force we can steer a path out of this entropy and chaos. The time has come for the Third Party of the 21st Century - the PCP or Progressive Constitutional Party! Ideas for the platform include a foreign policy that reflects intrinsic American values, such as not doing business worldwide with any nation that does not accept our Bill of Rights within their own countries. We have to stop propping up people whose governments in many ways are diametrically opposed to our own in nature, such as our relationship with China and other despotic regimes. Just an idea, but that would be an example of what I would consider to be a more civically rooted stance rather than an economically convoluted one. Our domestic policy should be grounded on the essential values of the Bill of Rights which represents our basic values and is the heritage that we derived from our great history and the brilliant minds of the founders. Yet we must incorporate change as we move into the 21st Century, because things have changed a lot since 1776! To that end I am a solid progressive unafraid of the work required to reform this broken system. And then, logically, if we are going to be discussing “values” we have to accept that fiscal reform is very much a part of this essential prescription for saving the patient. We need to wrest the control of our money system away from the Private Banking Syndicate we love to endow with the misnomer of “The Federal” Reserve. It is neither. It is not Federal and there is no “reserve”. Our money is worthless paper. Everything under your feet is sixty-percent owned by China who owns the bulk of our debt. And what do we do to keep China buying up our debt at the very moment (after the Crash that just happened) that they were ready to walk away from our dollar currency? We continue the despotic policies of George W. Bush and continue to fight a war on two fronts to protect the bulk of mid-east oil as the barbarian soldiers for the Chinese Communist Government we support hand in glove. We are essentially doing the same things the Barbarian armies did for the Romans, which is, as you may remember, what led to the eventual demise of Rome. Yes we are in a terrifying state of iniquity, but there is only one solution to this unless we want even more terrible things to happen in the future.

My first suggestion is that we form the new populist party of We The People in the form of the Progressive Constitutional Party (PCP) and put these conspirators in their place forever. Stand up against the snare of the fowlers and if you do nothing else with this effort, then send them a spine shivering signal of primitive FEAR. Give them a dose of their own terroristic guile. Do this by just exercising the sacred rights granted to you by our basic constitutional guarantees, before you lose the option. Stop playing linear checkers and start playing chess.

Moving on, there are limited options on the board on how you can protect the wealth that you have in the short term, but there are reasonable things you can do. I will, however, have to address this in three ways to suit the three classes of the monetary system as it exists. Whether you are poor or rich you can move your money to a credit union and get your money out of a bank. Credit Unions, because they primarily serve relatively spoiled government employed constituents, will probably be assisted (if possible) and or stabilized if the dire consequences of this time get worse. Plus they are much more friendly to their members because they think and act in common interest and it is a new vision of the Commons that we are all trying to craft here. Their fees and service charges are minimal, they buy cars at fleet sales prices in lots of 100 or more and greatly reduce the subsequent cost of the credit and the car as an asset. They also loan money at a much better rate than a bank and generally represent their customers very well. In California I bought my first new car through a credit union and when I compared my price to a bank deal on a cash basis the bank cost was $13,500 and my price was $6, 500. Big difference!

If you are dirt poor and can scrape any funds at all together or at best used lumber, some plastic sheeting and a few greenhouse-quality corrugated panels you can make a grow box, fully enclosed in your back yard and produce vegetables right straight through the winter. I have one in my back yard and I have Romaine lettuce, beets, spinach, cabbage and other vegetables growing quite well throughout the winter and in late January as of the date of this post they are thriving protected from the brutal windchill factors I have to endure up here on the high llano at 5000 ft. of elevation (high desert zone 5&6). You can collect a modest seed store for current and future use, but don’t overbuy them, because seeds don’t keep forever and hoarding only ensures a shortfall of seed production in the following years. Do not buy genetically engineered seeds as they compromise the integrity of quality seed by pollinating with them. (Don’t do anything that is unsustainable because it is only a short-term solution and will get you nowhere.) What you end up with is a degenerate seed strain no good to anyone. Thanks Monsanto and your buddies out there in the rackets!

If you live on a fixed income and are on disability or social security realize that if you purchase medical maintenance supplies for things like colostomies or diabetes you can ask your supplier to waive your 20% co-pay as it is not mandatory that you pay this and many providers are willing to waive it if you request a hardship waiver. Congress forced providers to collect this, but stopped short of making it mandatory in order to increase health care sector profits for corporations, but still provide a hidden mechanism to keep the pressure off people who are really in a helpless situation. Good companies that I know of are companies like Liberty who provide colostomy and diabetic supplies. I invite any other providers to give me their names if they will do the same for you and I will publish their names in this article in future updates. The same mechanism applies to most Doctors and healthcare providers if you just ask.

You can lower your car insurance prices by choosing a company like Amica Insurance, because it is a true mutual insurance company. Amica paid claims straight through the great depression and never laid off a single employee. To my knowledge they still have a similar level of integrity and the day they don’t they will lose me as a customer. Stay away from companies that claim to be mutual insurance companies and are not that at all. Amica is going through an intense expansion right now so don’t take your eye off them, keep googling their progress and make sure they don’t drift off into “greedyland”.

Go to a minute phone and find the absolute cheapest solution and if you own a computer for heaven’s sake join Skype.com, they are wonderful as a company. The owner of Skype is a true visionary. If you find a fast wireless free connection Skype works very well and it’s absolutely free if you call another Skype client. If you call a land line world wide it is seldom over 2 cents a minute.

Another great company is Twitter.com as it is an open platform communications program that opens you up to a worldwide community of Tweeters who use its 140 character message bar to talk to each other in one giant town hall meeting. I think it is a very progressive and democratic equalizer. I can’t say enough good things about them. Within their forum you will find Mashable.com and he will inform you on new and dynamic tools at your disposal all that work with Twitter.

Basically do not patronize companies that do not give you performance standards that you can use to track and measure their realistic progress. Do not patronize large multinational corporations unless you really need what they are selling to drive your business, look for smaller domestic entrepreneurs who are your neighbors and help bring manufacturing back to America. Stay away from disposable plastic garbage products that end up in land fills and are designed solely to force you to buy another cheap plastic piece of crap to replace it with. It’s mindless to spend your money that way. Stay away from Walmart if you can help it and shop selectively for basics only when you do have to go there. Their dog food is toxic - don’t feed it to your pets. They killed a bunch of my puppies and only confessed to having GMO products in their dog food (Starlink Corn, since removed from the market) after I threatened to have it independently tested and promised to sue them. They then, and only then, admitted it to me in a letter later. But all the Walmart management at lower levels denied it and lied to me repeatedly as I desperately tried to figure out the source of the attrition. Walmart is chronically dependent on garbage products like flashlights that use batteries and clog landfills with lead and toxins. And you can never find one that doesn’t break before you really need it. I believe they sell bootleg or rebuilt computers as new and the software that comes with them often does not load, because the loading codes they sell with them are not legitimate. I bought two Toshiba laptops, neither of which would load such purchased software that came with the computers. One failed completely and corrupted its own ram chip, that should never even be possible, but that’s what happened. I lost $850 on that deal. During the generator shortages due to Hurricane Andrew they were not past selling me a $350 generator for $900 and then wouldn’t honor the warranty within less than ninety days when they said that the manager who had sold it to me had been fired for being a drunk. Since he told me to bring it back and was no longer in their employ they disclaimed any responsibility. They are nothing but corporate crooks. I won’t belabor the point you can read multiple sources that reveal their chicanery.

Next thing I would say to you is pull the plug on any Citadel Communications Radio Stations and Fox News, CBS, NBC and ABC. They pander to their corporate handlers and dish out a constant stream of pap, disinformation and propaganda. Get a computer and get into independent media sources. Be selective and objective and don’t listen to people who spew forth venom and hatred. Five people control about 90% of what you see on TV and hear on the radio and stay away from theocratically based programming. Retrograding back into religious mythology doesn’t attend to life’s problems and only restricts the dialogue with more dogma.

In your home convert to a guerilla style homebuilt solar and wind system. Wire your house yourself with a standby system. Just make sure you put redundant fuses on each line to any service you are going to power. Do not tie into the grid as this will greatly increase your costs and you become a slave of the power company when you become part of it. You don’t need an expensive solar bank, rather a modest scaled down system. You can buy spiral florescent bulbs that use tiny amounts of power, dump the tube TV that sucks watts like a vampire and get a small flat-screen TV that operates on about 75 watts (about the same as a laptop computer). You don’t need 24 or 48 Volt systems - you can stay at 12 volts which is the same as the power system in your car and inverters for 12 Volt applications are reasonable and available in almost any auto parts store. Inverters change that 12 Volt current into 110 Volts so you don’t need to change out all your minor appliances to 12 Volts. You can run a straight 12 Volt line into your garage and provide a socket for plugging in a cheap tire inflator which you can carry in your car in case of a flat. If you carry a tire plug kit you can patch most tire problems and air them up without even removing the tire from the rim.

If you are limited financially get a solar freezer instead of a refrigerator and get a good cooler for a refrigerator replacement. By simply freezing a gallon of water each day in the freezer you can use that to cool your refrigerated food without freezing it. Keep your longterm meats and frozen vegetable concentrates in plastic bags in the freezer. Put cheap fused inverters in each room you want to light and you can plug in your low-wattage draw appliances that are 110 Volts into that receptacle instead of the grid power socket. By scaling down the draw of your appliances you effectively cut the number of solar panels and wind-generators you would have to purchase in half. Run your water heating by putting a solar collector on your roof and take your showers during the day or if you must use propane get a flash heater, not a water heater. These use much less propane and only heat water on demand. A poor man’s washing machine can be something as simple as a small barrel filled with soap and water in the back of your pickup truck, as you go down the road it agitates and rolls the clothes around absolutely free! But if you have the funds to provide enough sustainable power to your home then convert your washer to a 12 Volt washer and dry the clothes in the sun like your grandparents did it years ago. They smell better than machine dried clothing.

Although they cost a lot of money an Ecola Blue water purifier will clean up your water supply and wean you off of chlorinated and fluoride treated toxic water. It takes water out of the air instead of from city sources or a well. If you live in a remote area then build a cistern off your roof, capture rainwater for your house and garden and buy a pedestaled tank and create a gravity-feed water supply that needs no energy to push water. Use primitive rain barrels if nothing else is feasible.

Create a Tool Cooperative with your neighbors and share tools that can cost a lot of money thereby reducing redundancy in purchasing of things that are not that critical to your every day needs. Share - it builds good relationships and encourages responsibility. Yes it can be testing at times, but you can do it. Create shared wells and power systems if your neighbors live close, as this too can save you both lots of money.

Build habitat for wild critters around your home so they have something to eat and foster a bevy of wild birds in your backyard. By simply putting out a dove and quail block of seed in your yard you can guarantee a domestic food supply in the country. You can also pile up some dead tree branches and cover them with bird accessible openings, but nothing big enough for a predator, and they will nest in there and take up residence out in your fields. Wild and domestic turkeys, chickens and guineas will give you a good back up food supply and grow your own corn each year careful to grow the same variety as any neighbor within a mile or two to avoid pollination problems with competing strains. Get a storage device to put up some corn to feed your critters and you can buy it by the ton hauling it in your pick up truck from the mill instead of buying it by the bag.

Medical needs can be a real source of hardship if your are not prepared for hard times. Put together a basic medical supply kit to suit your essential needs - help may be a long way from you when you need it the most. Your physician can help you do this and be your best source of advice when you are figuring out what you need. Realize, however, that draconian laws have been put in place in the several states that can mean your hard sought supplies can be confiscated from you by the authorities so hide some of these where they’ll have a real hard time finding them so you don’t lose them. Having a firearm accessible to you is not out of the question, because you will have to defend yourself, but I do not advocate accumulating too many of these because it merely makes you a target for the worst and most dangerous elements out there in a lawless landscape. Audit medical preparedness and make sure you understand the ins and outs of how you would seek emergency care if you needed it. Know where the nearest trauma center and burn center are, because you will not be likely to survive if you go to a second rate hospital that can’t handle trauma. Keep hydration and electrolyte solutions on hand so you can stabilize a patient if necessary. Put together an herbal pharmacy of basic medications that can be of immense help for lack of anything else. Even simple garlic is a potent antibiotic if you have nothing else. Crush it, wait ten minutes, then put it in the wound after it is activated if you don’t have penicillin. Aloe Vera is great for burns. Golden Seal will stop bleeding in minor wounds and seal them with its own bandage, so too with Slippery Elm and Comfrey. They are all natural antibiotics and Comfrey can actually inhibit the progress of gangrene. Study, research, share your knowledge with your neighbors and build a support system to pull together. Good classical herbal knowledge can be found in my very favorite standby - Jethro Kloss, Back to Eden and another jewel is Where There is No Doctor (google it). It is translated into many different languages. The Ship Captain’s Medical Guide from the Royal Navy of England is also very sound.

When it comes to medical help you need to consider that most hospitals are very unfriendly to the indigent and often don’t even get diagnosis right. I am not saying you shouldn’t seek medical help, but seek alternative cures before you commit yourself to being irradiated mindlessly or drugged into insensibility and helplessness. Often the drugs these doctors prescribe are worse than the problem you are attacking. Many of them are in the process of being tested and you are the guinea pig.

I encourage anyone to use nutrition and natural medicine before they try “government drugs”. If you can afford a doctor spend your money here first as the body is a self-healing mechanism and if you give it the correct attitude and nutrition it’s own healing power can assert itself. A company I am truly impressed with is http://www.neurorelief.com or http://www.neuroscienceinc.com (it’s parent name). They have a network of doctors that use their products and are really worth checking into. They have studied the four hormonal systems of the body for over 30 years and arrived at standards for each of the critical hormones your body uses to regulate itself. My doctor sent me to have multiple blood tests for numerous body functions and I sent off a urine sample to this company and they sent my doctor the results. He subsequently prescribed the correct cutting edge medical supplements for me and the result so far has been plainly astounding. Where the doctors at the hospital only gave me cursory examinations and very shallow levels of testing discriminating against me because I was indigent they kept me marching in place and misdiagnosed for years - since 1981 and in multiple hospitals. I finally found out that it was a hormone imbalance probably due to chronic malnutrition and stress due to my complicated injuries sustained in an accident. I will be writing about this soon, but the first part of my experience can be understood by reading Apachacuti - A World Upside Down, A Personal Perspective on Healthcare under the Digest of Articles right here on Libertysteward.com. As the body fills in the nutritional blanks the regulatory systems of the body kick in and your immune system can conquer the disease syndrome. Something as simple as different types of sugar in the same product can cause liver and kidney disfunction that can look identical to other serious afflictions, when that is not what you are really dealing with. I highly recommend you check them out. Your money will not be wasted and they will help you with financial aid if you need help. May you stand in the Light Brothers and Sisters - more later as soon as I can give you more. Nemaste!

                                                                    A Day in Belen

a letter to my local papers

                                                                        May 31, 2011

That morning I was driving north through the center of Belen New Mexico, (which means Bethlehem in Spanish) and having just crossed through the main light I noticed an old man on my left walking.   Suddenly he tripped and fell on his face on the sidewalk.  I pulled right hard and jumped out of the truck running through traffic to get to him.  I picked him up helping him regain his bearings and in a few moments he seemed better and able to stand up straight.  “Are you hurt anywhere in particular or just everywhere? I asked.

“Oh, no I’m mas o menos ok, it will probably hurt more later...”  he smiled a little as if to say “Que no?” which of course is the equivalent of “don’t you know?”

I made like I was about to get back to my truck by saying “Well amigo my name is George and I guess I’ll be seeing you around town “?

He grabbed my arm and said: “Wait, I’ll bet you know my name!” looking at me as if we had met somewhere before.  “Because you see I want to thank you for picking me up when I needed help.  “Tell me - don’t you know my name?”

I guess I was struggling to kick my hippie memory out of short term and into long term and somehow figure out where I lost that brain cell.  Had I forgotten this guy?  He seemed kinda familiar, but then Belen is a pretty small town so I’d probably seen him and even said hello at one point or another.

“Well you see my name is Jesus and so when I say thank you for helpng me up when I fell down it really means a lot to me...” he said with a specially cultivated twinkle in his eye.

We both shared a moment of precious knowing silence and I said:

“Well, I thought I knew you and I guess in that sense you should remember when we met before, do you remember?”

“I’m an old man and I’m not as good at remembering, but you, you go ahead and tell me.” he smiling somewhat hazily.

“I met you in Mexico, or let us say it must have been a younger you, but none the less it was Jesus who picked me up on the road after a terrible accident on the way back from Ensenada.  He was dressed in white cotton simple garments, sandals and long hair and looked like all the paintings in the churches of South America.  Blonde haired white guy.  Looked like a hippie to me.  He delivered me to safety and I owe my life to him.  When they looked for him later he had vanished as if he was never there,  Seven different uniformed border police swore to it.”

“Did he tell you his name was Jesus?” he asked.

“He never spoke his name, but he answered my call after I called out to Him to not let me die.  The first thing I heard immediately after I spoke those words was a voice on a lonely highway by the cliffside out of the darkness: “Don’t worry - I will come and take you to wherever you need to go.”

Then I heard the VW van start up and he pulled up in a hippie van and drove me to safety.  You see - you where there, don’t you remember”?!

After a moment of considerate silence he said: “ I know now you will remember my name, because I know we have both been privileged to know His name and to have been picked up .”

As we both shook hands and went our ways I left that experience feeling like I had that small town warm glow of thankfulness come over me that something genuine and timeless had occurred that day and I went away from it thanking the Great Spirit for everything I have in Life and for whatever name man wants to call Him in that Spirit.

Both of these are true stories.  Yet they become larger than life because of the timeless humanity of the content.  So it is in life when we are given the task to craft legislation for a better healthier Commons, which is really a direct reflection of that “small town feeling” I was  talking about.  I would ask all of my fiends in Belen and Socorro and all over America to think about regarding each other as the most important new frontier for creating Wellness in the Land by supporting a very positive first step in this process of being the Good Samaritan for each other.  Please support the following Bill in Congress and the efforts to mobilize the nurses all across America for Healthcare for All:

Support the DNC Afghanistan Withdrawal Resolution and Sanders' American Health Security Act of 2011 (S.915).

Remember Wars only send your small town underprivileged youth to die in foreign countries so obscure investors can win on the markets that drive wars, whereas a vote for Universal Healthcare makes for a healthy land all across this nation.  You can spend your money to kill your kids or create a living fabric of life and wellness all across America for the same money.  You have to grow up to the fact that you are your brothers keeper and it is the right thing to do.  And you have to stop and realize there is not enough money for both.  Ask yourself is it better to spend that money taking care of our first duty to ourselves and our children or to be the obscure occupiers of another people’s country?  They are as weary of a useless war for profit and conquest as we are, but they care about nothing except for us to get the hell out of their country!  Freedom, democracy, cell phones and computers they care nothing about, but they hate us for occupying their land and if the shoe was on the other foot, how the heck would you feel?  What it comes down to is that eventually no matter how you feel about the reasons we fought the war in order to keep doing it it is going to destroy us.  A sane man doesn’t go with his feelings at a time like this he looks to his reality and goes with what he knows.  Do you eat the seeds of your next years crop?  Do you squander them when your children’s lives depend on that harvest?

Its better to take a step back when at least it seems we’ve accomplished our obscure goals and to spend the money laying the groundwork for a Healthy Commons and Wellness here at home.  We cannot look to a greedy posing Congress or our Party to do this, we have to stand up and make them do it.  Stand up for America and Stand up for yourselves.

Occupy Events

in Socorro NM

On November 17, 2011 Socorro held its first Occupy Protest in Solidarity with 320 other cities across the Nation.  It was attended by 30-40 people and was enthusiastically greeted by people driving by and cheering and honking in support.  It was a great start for a small town like Socorro.

Dismantling the God of War - Occupy Vs. the Bankster Gangsters

                                                                by George-Luis Dewey

                                                               November 20, 2011

Since the 60’s there has been no movement in this country that showed more promise for the soul of America than the Occupy Movement that started in Wall Street NYC. It is now obvious to the American People that their fragile democratic republic is in trouble and in a moral crisis. It is evident to even the most stubborn of partisan hacks that this is a good time for the legislooters to be quaking in their boots. Civilization is definitely two meals thick and the dumping of 75 trillion dollars of bad debt derivatives on the US Taxpayer by Bank of America is definitely going to break the bank and send inflation in to hyper drive. The Ferengis business class and the Borg Bankers are the absolute worst curse ever leveled against the American People.
The young people who did every thing right and then got screwed are roiling mad and justifiably so. It is evident that none of the “responsible authorities” did their own homework. It is obvious that we are beyond the point of reasonability. It is obvious that there are and never were enough jobs. It’s just that they were very good at concealing that from us with red-herring issues that went no where and sound bytes that trolled our conscious minds for impulsive responses, as well as of course pee tests to exclude job seekers from the work place. All manner of moral predilection is practiced by these greedy dis-incarnates. They fancy them selves our moral superiors and believe they know how to reform us. Yet they themselves can’t stop a ten year war based on a lie and a tyrant, because God Forbid their General Dynamics Stock might suffer a loss. We know now that their focus has always been an materialistic enrollment in their religion of money. They are no longer concerned with their nationality, only where they store their money. They have corrupted our foreign policy to being the instrument of annihilation of any national government anywhere, including and especially here in the Good old USA. Ghadaffi was wiped out mostly because he posed an economic threat to the banksters in that he was planning on opening a Trans African Bank and it is the same reason they feel threatened by Hugo Chavez and the Banco Sur. This is all nothing but a turf battle for oil and money. Civic membership has been replaced by Visa, Mastercard, Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs...that should be “Sacked”, it would make more damn sense. The investor class has been effectively extricated from the mainstream of America and like a cancer has begun growing wildly out of control and now seeks to insulate and protect itself even further on this the eve of its demise. Because this is Unsustainable.
HIstorically we have always used war to get us out of every recession that has come along. The drawing above comes from the temple of Palenque in Yucatan, Mexico. It was done by an erudite Hippie friend and his wife, he was a parasitologist and a naturalist and they were traveling in Mexico where we met on the return flight. They got the guard drunk and snuck into the temple with a kerosene lantern and some sketch paper. The Mexican Government does not allow photographs. But this particular rendering he did by memory as he had a photographic memory. It shows the syndrome of the God of War that the Banksters and Wealthy class utilize to stay in power. You know the shakedown humanity caught between the sword and the cross or faith as the case may be. This is an Old Game people, an ancient sorry ass tale of woe. The God of War in the center is supported on a tier of those in power. They rule all possibilities in the four directions and they live on the backs of those in the middle who are better of than those on the outside, for they only serve to maintain the killing as soldiers or the directives of the faith as priests or clergy. Both proffer their egos for the other to observe. Of course the faithful are pious, slender from asceticism and righteous in their stance. And the soldier on the left shows a corpulent wealthy man coupling with his woman in opulent splendor ah, the benefits of the spoils of war. Both the bloody and the faithful have a better lot for they to stand on the backs of those below them who support them in every way... that’s YOU, poor folk. Every recession has always benefited the investor class and stymied the middle class even more each time one came along. Businesses always laid us off and firmed up their capital while we got to run out of cash, run to the pawn shop with most of our stuff and finally before we almost lose our place to live and phone and friends we got rehired and told we couldn’t get a raise until the company got back on its feet. That was all a pile of crap. We earned 10 bucks an hour in the 70‘s and that’s all we can hope for forty years later !?? It was nothing more than a cyclical devastation eroding the middle class and a ritualistic fleecing of its money until one fine day we woke up and realized we were poor. It’s not like many of us didn’t see this day coming, because we knew that nothing would change until people were broke, then they would care plenty. And here we are. Now maybe many of you can understand what we have been trying to tell you. This has got to stop or America will be washed away and become a meaningless footnote in history. If we started tomorrow with the same tools we are using today it would be years and years before we ever rebuilt this country to any semblance of it’s former self, that’s how messed up everything is. But remember as I have said before we could have had a Golden Age in America with what the investor class stole and squandered for us. So by now it should be evident that the same value system that got us into this mess is not going to get us out of it. We have to realize that our task is nothing short of redefining our entire value system to suit a human model and away from a purely mechanistic material inhumane system. It is nothing less that turning swords into plowshares and redefining what it means to be poor, middle-class or rich.
What is the value of money? Is money free speech in the manner envisioned by the Supreme Court in the Citizens United decision and corporations people? I think not. And that needs to be redefined, but nothing short of a complete rethink of our entire system of money and exchange has to take place. Carl Marx said “Money is the sole nexus of Men.” But money is merely an instrument of exchange. If we didn’t have money we would still barter. But in America today there is no money. Our leaders have done such and effective job at keeping us marginal and stupid that there is now no consumer cash available, so even if you have a great idea for a business it’s doubtful that anyone is going to have the money to buy your product. We are going to have to jumpstart our economy at the street level and it seems to me that the street people have figured this out much more effectively that the legislooters and bankster gangsters. Today we must carefully measure what we treasure, before we see it demolished by civil strife.
A GreenPeace friend years ago envisioned money as the “Erg” he called it, it was to be a solar currency of all the energy assets of the country. He even thought it should be a solar cell that you could transact like money, but also use by connecting it to another and another etc and thereby build an actual panel that would produce current for your house. Still others thought that your behavior and creativity as a citizen ought to be counted as a credit or a debit to your value to society. Suffice it to say that our value system can be redesigned away from a purely static model to a dynamic and fluid economic system.
Liquidity or sufficient cash to make exchanges is a critical component of any economic system. The way I see our three classes of society is intrinsically different in this respect, because rather than allowing for people to be poor I would guarantee that the category of poverty did not exist at all. It seems more logically grounded in sane and sensible economic theory that people at the bottom should not be required to work at all in order to be at least Well. I would take what we call Poor and create the solid foundation of a progressive and forward thinking society and replace it with the Wellness Tier. Every citizen of this country would have a monetary stipend of sufficient money so as to live well and comfortably with a monthly modicum. You would get through the month and not go hungry, you would have connectivity and a phone, ordinary access to transportation and you could own an ordinary car if you wanted one. If a citizen wanted a job he could get one if he aspired to be middle class and I am sure many people would want that lifestyle. The most important thing is that sufficient liquidity and fairness would be intrinsic to society so that a modern fluid economy could be maintained without the poor being a drag on the middle class. But at the Top you would have to pay to play, but you could have whatever you wanted if you really desired to be rich. I don’t have a problem with wealth, I just have a problem with greedy enslaving wealthy classes of people. They have a problem with us because we want to redistribute the wealth. We need to get beyond the sound bytes and dogmatic thinking of the propagandistic past. The Three Class levels therefore would be the Wellness Tier, the Betters and the Best.
On the 17th, the day of national mobilization in 320 cities across America I joined in the chat circle with the movement in NYC and I was greatly impressed by the broad reach of people that were all talking to each other live. In the 60’s we could do that, it took lots of phone money or days waiting for a letter. It was interesting to hear what people were thinking as they were talking about reinventing the system. Of course, one of the ways people try to dish the movement is to claim that these kids have all kinds of socialist ideas and marxist rhetoric. That is just a really lame way of writing off the content of what these people are saying. There are some themes I heard repeated over and over. Reforming the dollar currency to a national currency is not a bad idea even though it sounds like just another sell out to a basic anarchist. I do not fancy myself an anarchist and I do not think too many reasonable people would if they were trying to govern. Actually it is exactly what we should do. Getting investment in line with civic objectives is what we need the investor class to understand. A solid Greenback would restore stability to a middle class that wouldn’t see their lifestyle eroded out from under them by an inflationary dollar. This is their country and the bank is no substitute for security if your streets are not safe for your trip home to the mansion. Choosing their own leaders was a good thing although at this stage electioneering is not allowed in the online discussion. There was mention of reforming the currency and there was hot debate between the hard currency advocates and the fiat currency supporters. But reforming both was at the heart of the concern. There was also concern of what to do if things got more violent and if the movement should stay on track with non-violence. I was merely concerned that unlike the 60s this movement should realize when police tactics really exceed the reasonable. Non-violence is the most powerful tool until you run into an Assad, like in Syria, where it seems the authorities revel in killing their subjects. Make no mistake about it America if you let your cops take it to that level don’t expect these kids to back down, because they have a whole lot more they can clearly see they will lose than we could see in the 60’s. But for some of us Kent State, the Pentagon in 68 and Chicago were all we needed to understand. Grow up we’ve been living with fascism for 40 years since it became clear to us during Vietnam. They violated Posse Commitatis when the used the military against us at the March on the Pentagon in 68. It wasn’t virtually unanimously understood by all of us then like is is by the youth of today. They know they have been screwed and they have every reason to be mad as hell and they are not going to take it anymore. If only they had a network they could broadcast this message from. Yes I mentioned that I believe they should captivate the airways by calling every radio station and demanding at least 6 hours of primetime broadcasting access for a call in civic discussion radio program where common citizens can be heard discussing ideas for reforming their country. I also suggested the use of Grand Juries to counterattack local DA’s and the cops and I referred the membership to lawlearners.com to get useful knowledge on how to do that. Where courts can fail you when they are staffed with corrupt judges a Grand Jury is something they fear because they have no control over it. Grand Juries are made up of common citizens like you who can be beaten and abused just like you and they tend to take that sort of thing very seriously. And we shared a moment of appreciation for Vaseline, which can be used very effectively against crowd control methods employed by the police, makes for very slippery protestors. And we shared in the knowledge base required to spot agent provocateurs sent in to disrupt the protest and to provoke violence. This is all part of the larger discussion.
So what could be the response to this moment in our history? I am hoping that the investor class is not as witless as it appears to be at the moment and that it will move on to see this as an opportunity to add an new level of fairness and integrity back into the American way of doing business. I hope that they will reach down and see it in their best interest to lift the nation up to a new level of cooperation and integrity, otherwise what I see is not so good. But my commitment is to non-violence and until the time when the opposition rejects cooperation and reason I will adhere to that stance. It is as I have stated important to however be mature enough to know when the line in the sand has been crossed. My generation was not, but things were a lot fuzzier then. Police tactics thus far have been relatively deplorable and predictably fascist. Face it the current crop of cadets likes beating people, they are not much for discussion or education, I don’t think many of them even graduated from high school unlike their protesting counterparts many of whom are un-arguably the best and the brightest of our country. We should be ashamed - profoundly ashamed.
All I can say to the laggards is have the sense to get out of the way or for damn sure occupiers are coming for you, it’s merely a matter of time. A lie only lasts until the truth comes. I know, I’ve said many of these things before, but you see they are ringing like bells now, and the bell tolls for you if you are a greedy little pigster. A great day of Reckoning has arrived. May the Great Spirit light the way for the Occupiers of America because in this democracy we are 99 %.

Nemaste!

Note: the businesses mentioned here do not pay libertysteward for advertising.

I included these photos to help you remember the important things in life, like nature and animals, attendance, simplicity, art in all things by the hand of man or his gods, living close to the land, cultivating your food in the garden of your life wherever you may find yourself. The video of that noisy old hound dog was Liberty during her second puppyhood in the last two weeks of her life. You couldn’t take her near the ditch bank without her letting out a howl or two or three...anyway after 16 1/2 years of a wonderful life the mountain lion claimed her the night Oakland Occupiers got stomped around. She gave me one last look at supper time; I know that look, I’ve seen it before, and turned and went out the cabin door and vanished into the night. It was two days after the full moon and although I searched all over on foot and in the truck she was just plain gone. On the way out the llano the next evening after searching most of the day since first light I saw the hawk brother, he sat without flying away on my right as we turned down toward the village. I knew I would have my answer soon. On the way back up into the high plain I saw the sign and my heart felt the heavy burden of my loss for there was brother owl. He sat perfectly upright on the fence post on my left and he did not fly away as we passed. I had not seen him for a very long time. The Sun was in the eighth house and it was the hour of regeneration as time was dying into night, that afternoon hour of entropy marked the moment I knew she was gone. Liberty was a real class act and she went back to the land she loved so much. She had been my sidekick and fellow traveller all those years. Saturn marked this bittersweet time with me as he passed my sun in trine, but left me such good memories as a monument in time. Thanks for the wisdom, may I learn more...
But my concern now is for you my friends who find your selves on the path in life without the affirmation of your fellows. You will be looking for new horizons and safe harbor and I know how upsetting this can be when you have know better times and they have been taken from you. I had to walk clean out of the Military Industrial Complex as a disabled man with no other job prospects and the Reaganomics all around me razed the rest of my opportunities to the ground back then. I went to the woods and never came back. My life is where you are at and has been essentially for 28 years. But this is what I’m going to tell you. Learn to live simple. Live in teepees, grow food in any spot that looks forlorn, unattended and in the sun even if it’s a crack in the sidewalk. Try to practice the Rainbow Way of Leave no Trace when you have gone. I wish I could tell you that these people you live in the same country with would consider your needs and come to your aid, but they are greedy, self-absorbed and self-righteous and stupid people as they perch upon their ill gotten wealth and hope that what they’ve wrought doesn’t come to bite them too, so don’t wait for them. Walk onward.
And remember things are not what they appear to be, look carefully to see what is really going down. Often things are not what we believe them to be even if our eyes see what we think we see. Burn white sage and smoke some good old indian tobacco in your elk horn pipe and celebrate a way to better days. What ever you do stay sane and well and live by the counsel of sages, perhaps you recognize and old friendly sage of mine who has always been a light in my life. Yes that is Hari Dass Baba Ji, the guru of Ram Dass and wise counsel to Mukunda Dass, your friendly brother at hand. However you do it, remember to keep the tension level down in your own world even if its coo-coo everywhere else...meditate, “be here now”, keep your tensiononmeter handy, you are going to need to keep your spokes tuned, if you know what I mean. The sketch is by Francisco Goya, who lived in a time of repression and false morality conducted primarily by a corrupt monarchy and a violent church. He had to sneak out of the palace at night with his wild woman the Dutchess of Alba who led this secret life with her lover the painter - he called her his Linda Maestra which means beautiful teacher. Life for them was literally a wild ride on a broom stick. I guess that’s sort of like Dr, Strangelove wild ride down to earth on a nuclear missle, anyway this is the world Dr. Strangelove has prepared for you. I know you can do better than this. Adelante! Where? I’ll be darned if I know but we’re sure as heck all going together. May it be a Better World. Go in Peace.
